Un-necessary Excessive Police/Security Presence

Post by Dennis_Lintz »

The lineup and concert of 2012 was great!! :D ...of the Friday evening and the entire following Saturday that I attended,...

I left Saturday night after the fantastic fireworks display had ended ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rg1V_AnzR74 ), and didn’t bother to return to attend Sunday's concert presentation. I'm sure I missed a great show and line-up of musicians that nice pleasant sunny day. This will probably be the last time I will be attending, and voluntarily allowing myself to be subjected to this scary new age of “Homeland  Security” tactics. As a registered weekend camper, I noticed the camping fees have been increased this year to help defray the ‘extorted’ extraordinary wage and salary demands levied by the local law enforcement growth industry, that has been unduly forced by operation of law upon the management of the White Mountain Boogie 'N Blues Festival ; i.e. a perfect example of the "trickle down" (or, 'trickled  on') effect at our extra added expense in this depressed economy.

I wasn’t allowed re-entry by Security/Police on Friday night before the rain hit hard to cover up my chair and electronics (which was a financial loss) with plastic, and I witnessed and overheard other concert attendees at the natural amphitheater entrance being refused access to recover their coolers and other important items, also!! :o Needless to say, I disappointingly had a wet seat to go back to that evening, and ruined electronics just for the sake of our heroic, blessed, profoundly thoughtful and proficient ‘security’ staff. The intrusive TSA security type searches conducted every single time you entered "the compound" was totally unwarranted as there has never been a problem at the White Mountain Boogie 'N Blues Festival in past years; just good people getting together and having a good time, listening to great jams by some of the best musical artists on the circuit!! The technological overuse of facial recognition software by local law enforcement personnel upon entry at the amphitheater entrance to verify if any festival attendees may have any outstanding warrants for their arrest, is just another part of the extra enhancement for the liberties we voluntarily gave up for the sake of 'security' along the way with the upgraded price of admission for these 'services;' like paying homage while being herded onto a ‘cattle car’ by the Gestapo while we are being serenaded. It was great fun while it lasted, but now it’s time for me to move on,...

As an honorably released military  veteran, I'd rather 'Live Free, or Die.'
There was only one original Woodstock!! (1969) No more,...
Next Year to come,... Get ready, folks!! "Cavity Searches!!!"

UN-necessary force. I read i understand and i am saddened . I am going to work very hard over the next year with the town to get the police to relax over 16 years we have never had a major incident and i to am upset . We have a new police chief in town who only has 3 years of experience with the boogie and is just trying to do what she feels is right and my security must do what is asked . We do have a different situation here at the boogie because we have camping on site people coming and going out of the gate constantly our security cant remember everyone we do want a safe event and with any event there is a risk . I have been frisked at Gillette stadium, Meadow brook, Verizon airports it is an unfortunate part of our world . I hope you don't let it spoil the boogie for you but email the town of Thornton and express your thoughts in a courteous manner if enough people express their concerns they will listen. Remember the boogie is only doing our jobs and what is asked of us to keep this festival alive .

While I did think it was excessive, the best example I witnessed was when a lady was turned away because she had a "fork". Whatever...nothing will stop my attending the best Blues festival around!

Oh come on it wasnt that bad. A small price to pay for the good times within. I would suggest that the registered campers have a different wrist band color and possible an entrace to and from the campground areas just for us. I mean by saturday afternoon the orange fence behind the coffee vender was on the ground and people from the camping areas were using that instead of the real entrance anyways. Might as well just make it a legal entry point for those of us that went back and forth all weekend.

I understand the predicament as an entrepreneur this establishment has been placed in by being 'compelled' and forced to comply with the regulations of the local current governance. These same police tactics were used with other functioning establishments, including night clubs, bars, other festivals, concerts, and any other gatherings which drew people together as guaranteed under the 1st Amendment, but inevitably they were ‘closed’ down in time citing various 'offences against the public good.' I can only hope as these police activities are drawn into the open, with the excessive domestic use of drones, surveillance cameras, facial recognition software, and the militarization of our police force, etc, citizens may become aware that although we falsely profess to be the freest country in the world, and we try to make the rest of the world just like us; the fact is, we have the highest incarceration rate of any nation in the entire world!! That is not freedom. :!: When people merely allow themselves to acquiesce to total subjugation in docile compliance without question, the more society will lose their liberty under the color of law. :!: Apathy is the enemy of FREEDOM!! That is how the Nazi’s had the populace march upon the cattle cars to their doom in total compliance. Granted I have “lost” my right, or ability to bring along a knife to slice my Pepper Jack cheese, and the ability to use a “FORK” to eat my ‘Frijoles’ while I have a fantastic time and enjoy some great blues; I must ask everybody, “Is 'extortion' of the management and more police presence really for our safety?” Once you eat ‘Frijoles’ and cheese that I used to share with my friends at the fest, will we all be arrested for farting during a cavity search? :o

After leaving the Boogie on Saturday night I was pulled over by a local cop who said he pulled me over for not having an illuminated license plate bulb. I know he was simply "fishing" for someone who was driving drunk after the concert, because I just had my car inspected three days before. Fortunately I didn't have a drink all day. He proceded to write me a ticket for faulty equipment and did a quick U-turn to head back to catch someone else. When I got back to my motel I asked one of my passengers to get out an check my license plate light....IT WAS ON AND WORKING. Cops are overpaid liars and scumbags.

The White Mountain Boogie ‘N Blues Festival is coming up soon, and so how I would love to go again. It was always such a great time, great blues, just kickin’ back gettin’ into the music, meet new friends, and gettin’ into the outside open free environment,....
I see Brad has had to increase the cost of camping and ticket fees to defray the extra added mandated expense laid upon him to ‘hire’ police to patrol the grounds, and how to instruct unwarranted and intimidating TSA entrance searches http://www.hulu.com/watch/521817#i1,p15,d1 even though there has never been any trouble from all the attendees at the fest. I’m sure they are his most expensive hourly paid “employees” on his payroll. It is so sad to watch a complacent ‘free society’ succumb to an accepted Gestapo rendition of FREEDOM. When an ‘unauthorized’ force demands money for ‘protection,’ it’s called “EXTORTION,” but if that force has been legitimized and demands and mandates “payments for services,” especially when it is not necessary, what’s that called?

The spurious traffic stops to execute some ‘fishing expedition’ for ‘greater protective services,’ and being reduced to eating like an sub-human because you can’t bring in a fork to eat your ‘Frijoles,’ or a knife to cut your cheese; but if 'cavity searches' are inevitable, feel free to cut all the Limburger cheese you can!!

I’m so tempted to go, the lineup is always great, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, The Chris Fitz Band, Tinsley Ellis - ( “Pawnbroker” is such a crankin’ tune, and I it!!( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYl_hCLMQ4A )), to commune with my fellow brothers and sisters, watch the fireworks, IN A FREE ENVIRONMENT!! ! ☮♥☮♥☮♥☮♥☮♥☮♥☮♥☮♥☮♥☮♥☮♥☮♥☮♥☮♥☮♥☮♥☮♥☮♥☮♥☮♥☮♥☮

...and the sad thing to have to admit, is that the monetary price we have to pay to ‘enjoy our liberties’ has been increased to defray the unnecessary expense imposed upon Brad to be able to present us The White Mountain Boogie ‘N Blues Festival,...

Dennis, where are you getting your info? Are you saying that artist rates and demands don't go up, like everything else? Did you notice that there is no parking fee this year? And what about the wind storm we had a few weeks ago that caused a lot of tree damage and had to be cleaned up? etc. etc.

I wouldn't assume that a slight price increase goes totally towards security.
It is a wrong assumption.

As far as security, I too am saddened that ALL venues are taking an aggressive approach, but, if you go to Meadowbrooks, or Gillette, it's a whole lot worse. But, it only takes one wacko to screw it all up. Imagine the Boogie getting sued for allowing just one incident.

Would you like to see the Boogie gone forever?

peace,

Brian

Got my info from observation by camping there these past years!!
But you made a valid point, too, but the police are not there for free, either!! :ugeek:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUjo8epJG2A
 The police presence, and their rates and demands, must equal a large bite of the BUDGET at how much per hour? $35.oo per hour?
Certainly not Wal-Mart wages!!

Maybe I'll reconsider more positively about going after all,...

The lineup sounds great. 8-)

I don't even have the Blues from knowing that the NSA is reading this, too!! :P

I'll just have to remember to only bring "finger food,"... :?
...with the understanding that I'm definitely not on nobody's no fly list.

 Let's Boogie on!!
