Boogie 2013

Hello to one and all,

Great seeing everyone this year. Met some new folks and had a great time.

OK, a week later and yah, I'm still working. No, haven't had a day off yet.
I ended up taking about 1700 photos. I have about another 1000 from JS and am still waiting for Les's work from Friday.
Going through mine at the moment, mainly the bands as some of them expressed interest in grabbing the shots.
Then I'll hit the backstage shots.
I am going to split "camping" shots up into pure camping shots and at the show shots.
That way I can put up more photos without any one category having too many.
When I am done with mine, I'll work with JS to process his.

So essentially, here's how that goes for anyone interested;

Get rid of the fuzzies and shakeys
Select photos for review that show an interesting shot of some kind
Then go through those and color correct, tonal correct, sharpen and mark as selects
Once they are all done, I combine all the photographers together and make final selections.
THIS IS REALLY HARD TO DO! I want to be fair to all the shooters, yet, provide the best photo coverage possible. And let's face it, some bands are more photographic too.
As far as shots of you folk, well, like the bands, some are more... um.... interesting.
No booze or intoxication.
Try not to have too many shots of the same people.

OK, then, when they are all selected down to the finals, I go through them again and re-size to 1200 pixels by X pixels.
Rename them all, load them up to the server, and then make the photo pages.

Yup, many hours. I figure it's about 25 hours of shooting, 25 hours going through my stuff, and another 12-15 to finally get them up.
So, please be patient. Last year, the was a delay waiting for final approval of the shots, but, I try to have them ready in 4-6 weeks.

If anybody wants a print of any of the non-band shots, LMK.
Technically, can't sell the band shots.

BTW, if any of you missed Sunday, well, once again, you blew it. Like last year, Sunday's line up was a killer.
I told my friend from Boothbay, ME that driving backwards with the doors open would be smarter than missing Sunday.

Oh, yah, if any of you grabbed any shots of me and my grandson Anthony (aka Tony Buttons) by the stage, I would love a copy of them.
It was a strange feeling to me as it seemed like 50 cameras pointed to our direction and started shooting. Being a shooter, I am not used to being a shootey.

Again, great meeting and talking with you all. Hope you had a great time and got home safe.

More to come.

Peace,

Brian

Hi Brian,

It was great meeting you at the "beer summit". This was the first Boogie for Gloria and I, though most assuredly not the last! You are sooooo correct about anyone who left before Sunday...huge mistake. All the acts were great, but Diunna & Blue Mercy stole the show IMO. We had seen her a few times previously, after first discovering her at the Telluride Blues and Brews Fest a few years ago. We were telling people all weekend that she was going to be great, and she and Jonn Richardson did not disappoint. Watching Brad off to the side of the stage, with that huge smile on his face as he watched them, told me that we may be seeing her there again. It was also interesting to watch Too Slim studying Jonn rather intently. Guess he liked what he was seeing as well!

I have a couple of band pics that show you working, but no face shots. The pics are too big to post here, but if you want to PM me an email address, I'll gladly send them to you. We would be interested in a copy of the shot you took of us sitting in our seats on Sunday if it came out OK. You can PM me with details whenever you get the time.

Thanks for all the work you put into the festival and this website/message board. I think I can speak for everyone when I say it's much appreciated.

See ya at the 2014 Boogie!

Mark

Hello all,

I have started posting up photos. My apologies for the delay. I went through some very difficult times in September to Jan and was not able to attend to these as I hoped. I am doing my best to get these up ASAP as I am finally getting some free time.

Also, keep an eye out on the home page as we will start to add some of this year's names.

take care,

Brian
