Filming the Boogie

Post by briansullivan »

Hello to all,

My name is Brian, I am the one who developed the new web site. Besides being a web developer, my past life was that of a pro photograqpher. I have also managed various photo labs in and around the Boston area and have taught at New England School of Photography. Along with my web and graphic design business, I still am printing digital, pigment photos with my side business and will most likely be planning a special promotion for you on getting enlargements from the Boogie done.

I will, along with others, be photographing the Boogie. My goals are to really document this event well. Along with myself, will be another photographer, and possibly one other, whose photos of the fireworks and the event you have already seen.

My purpose here is to A) start a thread that can help others, like you, take better pictures, and B) maybe get a hook-up going Saturday morning (not too early) where we can meet and greet, and explore the possibility of working together on this event. Hard to be everywhere and there is so much going on. Videographers are welcome too. Also, my studio is located nearby on the corner of 49 and 175. Not sure how that may help, but, we'll see.

It was tough trying to figure out where to place this post, and I may start a new area just for this, we'll see.

Anyone interested? Comments?

Look forward to seeing you at the Boogie.

Sincerely,

Brian

Now this sounds like a great idea ! I'm EXTREMELY AMATEUR... but love to take pictures. I actually took some fantastic pictures up at the Boogie throughout the last few years. Meet on Saturday morning sounds like a plan... I'm interested. Cathi

Hi Brian. Lisa, here. I would love to participate as well. I've been attending the last 2 years taking pics as well. I have some of my pics posted on my FB page from the past 2 years. If you'd like, here's my pics from the 2009 Boogie: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=9 ... 02d4c13e6f

OK, we have a few people on board. Great.

Along with those mentioned here, we also have Wes Lavin, who has shot the Boogie many times.
Most of the photos from 2009 are his.

We also have JS, bartender extraordinaire from the Lucky Dog, who shoots weddings, sports and more...

I beleive my camping spot, whose number I do not know yet, will be located just as you leave the open camping and start going into the woods.
I want to say spot 43 or so. Been a few years since I have been.
I drive a midnight blue, 2006, Jeep Grand.

I am going to out and about a lot, but, I am thinking of getting together on Saturday morning, say, about 9:30 am at my spot.
We can meet and greet, and get a game plan together.

:!: Some things to remember...
Bring your camera manual,
Extra batteries, (I will have chargers at my campsite and some AC power)
Check to make sure you can handle a couple hundred shots. Maybe buy another memory card.
If you are using a long lens or a zoom, a monopod is real handy. Tripods are OK but clumsy.
Lens cleaner and tissue,
Gallon size zip locks, trash bags, in case of the dreaded rain,
A milk crate to gain a little height,
Water,
Comfy shoes,

Well, that's a start.

Hope to see you all there. It's gonna be a blast.

Brian
